Confirmation is a sacred right where one affirms their Christian beliefs and is welcomed as “a full member” into their church. Confirmation is an affirmation and public declaration of faith! It means that a child takes on the responsibilities of the promises made by adults at their baptism. Confirmation is a process.
At St. Paul's our Confirmation process is a three year program for middle school students. Sixth through eigthth graders gather with four adult mentors every other week on Wednesday evenings from October to May. For two hours at a time we engage in intentional community to teach and share about our traditions, faith practices and faith life as part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. We establish guidelines and milestones in the life of faith and we hope and encourage participation in the life of faith at St. Paul’s.
The liturgical rite of Confirmation is celebreated across denominations on Pentecost, the day of the Holy Spirit.
